About Me

I'm Stacy - a disciple of Christ, an Army wife, and a homeschooling mom to our 7 year old daughter. I spend my days doing fun science projects, going on field trips, cooking gluten-free meals, taking photos, reading, blogging & managing the home. I'm constantly behind on scrapbooking and want to learn how to crochet more than scarves, but there are only so many hours in the day.

I believe that shoes should always be optional, life is better at the beach, and chocolate is a necessary food group! More details about me & my family

Our Love Story

Hubby walked into my life in 1998, and it was love at first sight!  He rode in on a white horse, swept me off my feet, and took me away to a romantic hideout on a secluded beach!

Ok, maybe not.  But it’s still a great story!

I have always loved the water, so right after high school I took a SCUBA diving class, and was hooked!  Unfortunately, after I was certified, I only knew one other person that dove and he lived 3 hours away.  I was young and in college so I couldn’t afford to travel the world diving, so I did the next best thing.  I kept taking classes.  I moved up through the ranks, and ended up as a Divemaster.  A Divemaster is someone who helps the Instructor teach, help the students, take the students on underwater tours, etc.  I worked with an awesome dive shop, became great friends with the owners, helped all the instructors with their classes and it became my 2nd home.

4 or 5 years later, this new guy came to work for the dive shop as the manager.  I wasn’t so sure about him at first.  After all, he had just entered “my” territory :)   He took his job very seriously, and questioned me when I wanted to go in the back room or fill my own tank.  What do you mean, show you my ID card? I practically LIVE here!  So, he was a little tough, but he sure was cute!  He was an instructor too, so of course I started helping with his classes as well.  It didn’t take long before we hit it off.  We became great friends in a very short time.  We laughed together, played together, taught together, and were able to talk about absolutely anything.   He was my best friend, and I was his.

For about a year, we worked together as great friends.  We both dated other people, and cried on each others’ shoulders when those relationships were bumpy.  Evidently, our friends and family saw the “spark” way before we did.  Or maybe we were just trying to ignore it?  I knew there was something special about him though.  The way we were able to talk about life together was just amazing. We would sit for hours at a bookstore drinking coffee, or stay up till the wee hours of the morning talking about all sorts of things. Family, kids, religion, travel, dreams, goals…you name it, we discussed it.  We were on the same page, too!

Finally, one day I went with my mom to the courthouse to finalize her divorce from my dad.  I knew then and there that I did not want to ever go through that.  I knew that I needed to marry my best friend.  What better start to a relationship?

Soon after, we decided to take our friendship to the next level and begin dating.  We’ve never looked back!  We were engaged in December 2000, and married in January 2002.

He is still the love of my life, and my very best friend.  He’s the one I can talk to about anything and who accepts me just as I am.   He leads our family in every way, and supports & encourages me constantly.  I admire and respect the man he is, who he’s been, and who he is becoming.

God blessed me with the most amazing friend, husband and partner.  Through it all, God has been the 3rd strand that held us together and I know that will never change!

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
