About Me I'm Stacy - a disciple of Christ, an Army wife, and a homeschooling mom to our 7 year old daughter. I spend my days doing fun science projects, going on field trips, cooking gluten-free meals, taking photos, reading, blogging & managing the home. I'm constantly behind on scrapbooking and want to learn how to crochet more than scarves, but there are only so many hours in the day.
I believe that shoes should always be optional, life is better at the beach, and chocolate is a necessary food group!

This is an updated edition that combines 2 previous volumes into one book full of over 200 Gluten-Free and Casein-Free recipes. I was extra excited because this came to . . . → Read More: Book Review: Special Diets for Special Kids

I dropped Lovebug off at camp this morning, and I think I was more nervous than she was. It’s a Day Camp, so she will go every day from 8:00 – 6:00 and have a fun filled day full of outdoor activities, crafts, swimming, and even a field trip to go bowling one day. It’s not . . . → Read More: Lovebug goes to Summer Camp

Lovebug has been taking swimming lessons this summer and is doing amazing!! Last month when she did the first round, I put her in Level 1 because I wasn’t sure how intense the levels here would be. Almost right away, the teacher said that she really needed to be in Level 3 based on how much . . . → Read More: Swimming lessons

When we received Lovebug’s diagnosis of Sensory Processing Disorder and ADHD, we were also told that it was “highly probable” that she had Asperger’s. The doctor said that she was able to find a couple things that kept her from diagnosing Lovebug with Aspergers, and that she was glad because she didn’t like to diagnose kids . . . → Read More: Aspergers or not? We had a really rough time during school yesterday morning. Lovebug had a serious meltdown! We were working on schoolwork this morning, and she mentioned (nicely) that she didn’t want to do something we were working on. I asked her (nicely) “Why don’t you want to do that?”, and she lost it. She started crying and . . . → Read More: A very out-of-sync morning!

Lovebug gets so excited when friends or family come to our house. Over excited, actually. For a long time, as soon as I opened the door to let in a grandparent, she would start running around in circles screaming or laughing hysterically while the grandparents stood patiently waiting for their greeting. Not the warmest welcome!

Dear Struggling Mom,
I heard your child all over the store. As I visited different areas of the store in search for the things on my list, I could hear him stimming. Loudly. I recognized it immediately. My heart immediately went out to you even though I hadn’t seen you yet. I knew that grocery shopping was . . . → Read More: To the woman with the autistic child at Walmart…

We’ve had a lot going on lately, and sometimes it’s hard to manage Lovebug’s sensory needs in the middle of all of it. I’m still learning so much about her, what she needs, how to be proactive, and how best to help her. We’ve been dealing with this at some level for years, . . . → Read More: Handling the holidays with special needs

I have to brag on my daughter! It’s my blog, I’m allowed!
My daughter is a lot of wonderful things. She’s smart, funny, a great reader, a colorful dresser, and a lover of animals…but a stage performer she is not. She doesn’t like to talk or sing on stage or in front of anyone. She gets nervous . . . → Read More: How Great is Our God!
